Cornflake Girl Tori Amos

Corn Flake Girl

Never was a cornflake girl
Thought that was a good solution
Hanging with the raisin girls
She’s gone to the other side
Givin us a yo heave ho
Things are getting kind of gross
And I go at sleepy time
This is not really happening
You bet your life it is

Peel out the watchword
Just peel out the watchword

She knows what’s goin on
Seems we got a cheaper feel now
All the sweetcaze are gone
Gone to the other side
With my encyclopedia
They musta paid her a nice price
She’s putting on her string bean love
This is not really happening
You bet your life it is

Peal our the watchword
Just peel out the watchword

Never was a cornflake girl
Thought that was a good solution

Rabbit where’d you put the keys girl
And the man with the golden gun thinks he knows so much
Thinks he knows so much
Rabbit where’d you put the keys girl

Alrighty, I really like Tori Amos, and THIS happens to be my favorite song, but what’s up with these lyrics? I suppose it’s some sort of reference to Alice In Wonderland, but really?

So, I guess I’ll have to do some research to find out what Tori was thinking when she wrote this song.

I became a Tori Amos fan in the early 90s. I don’t know how I came across her, but I remember waiting for her next album to come out.

Really funny thing was that I was a Trent Reznor fan and I had put them together in my head because at the time they were my #1 male & female sounds – I loved Pretty Hate Machine! And then the two of them go and get the Sharon Tate House to record in.

I got a kick out of going to one of the studios that they recorded in (not the Tate house) when someone I knew was making a CD (I liked Tori & Trent better though).

I have the song on my playlist and I haven’t been following Tori like I used to, but she’s still someone that I really like to listen to.

If you haven’t heard the song Cornflake Girl, you really need to take a listen, after you take a look at the lyrics. Get back to me with your opinion & comment!
